N-Acetyl Selank Amidate: What It Is, How It Works & What the Research Shows

Overview

N-Acetyl Selank Amidate is Selank with an acetyl group added to one end and an amide group to the other. These modifications protect it from breakdown by enzymes and are intended to make it stronger and longer-lasting. Its effects are based on Selank: reduced anxiety without sedation, through modulation of GABA signaling, enkephalin levels and immune signaling.

Why researchers study it

Anxiety

A longer-lasting form of Selank for calm without sedation.

Stress resilience

Explored for steadier responses to stress.

Immune balance

Shares Selank's immune-modulating activity.

How it works

Modified Selank analog. Evidence for Selank cannot establish dosing for this derivative.

Adamantane & the blood–brain barrier

Chemically attaching an adamantane group to a peptide can increase its lipid (fat) solubility. Researchers hypothesize that this modification may help certain compounds cross the tightly regulated blood–brain barrier. The effect depends on the specific modified molecule; greater lipid solubility alone does not establish brain delivery or clinical benefit. This does not apply automatically to the unmodified peptide and is not a reconstitution additive.

What the research shows

  • Anxiety-related signaling is a proposed research target based on the parent peptide.

Typical protocol

Reconstitute a 10 mg vial with 3 mL bacteriostatic water for 3.3333 mg/mL. Typical range: 250–750 mcg 1–2x daily · daily.

Common stacks

  • NA Selank Amidate + NA Semax Amidate — Modified versions of the classic calm-plus-focus pairing.

Potential benefits & side effects

Potential benefits

  • Improved focus and mental clarity
  • Reduced anxiety and stress reactivity
  • Better mood and motivation
  • Neuroprotective support (BDNF-related peptides)

Side effects

  • Nasal irritation with intranasal use
  • Mild headache
  • Overstimulation or irritability (Semax-type)
  • Drowsiness (Selank, DSIP)

Lifestyle factors

  • Cycle it: run on/off cycles to maintain responsiveness.
  • Timing: dose stimulating peptides (Semax family) early in the day; calming ones (Selank, DSIP) later.
  • Sleep and hydration have a bigger effect on cognition than any peptide.
  • Limit caffeine stacking to avoid overstimulation.
